Loreauville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Mrs. Claire Bonin Myers, 52, on Monday, April 13, 2015, at 1:00 PM. Services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Loreauville with Father Mark Derise officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be at David Funeral Home at 1101 Trotter St. in New Iberia on Sunday, April 12, 2015, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and resume on Monday, April 13, 2015 at 9:00 AM until the service time. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Sunday at 6:30 PM. A native of Jeanerette and resident of Lafayette, Mrs. Myers passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at 12:35 AM at her residence. Mrs. Myers was third grade teacher and taught at Canal Street Elementary and St. Charles Elementary in Jeanerette and Westside Elementary in Scott. She retired after 30 years of teaching. She received her BA from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in Elementary Education. Claire was a member of Kappa Kappa Iota sorority for 14 years. Mrs. Myers loved people and was happiest when surrounded by family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Anthony "Tony" Myers; her daughter, Caroline Claire Myers both of Lafayette; her parents, Dr. & Mrs. Francis J. Bonin of Jeanerette; her brothers, Thomas Wayne Bonin and his wife Danette of Loreauville and John Patrick Bonin and his wife Judy of Duson; her sisters, Sr. Theresa Joseph Bonin, O.P. (Elizabeth) of Nashville, TN, Catherine Herring and her husband Russell of Loreauville, Francine Bonin of Jeanerette and Renee Bonin of New Iberia and her Aunt Audrey Kern of Jeanerette. She is also survived by her 8 nieces and 2 nephews, Adrien, Magdalene and Andre Bonin of Duson, Emily and Camille Bonin and Grace Herring of Loreauville, Hannah Delcambre of Jennings, Brooke Guillory of Iowa and Dustin O'Blanc of Jennings; her father-in-law, Curley Joseph Myers of Jennings; her sister-in-law's, Elizabeth Miller and her husband Keith of Jennings, Tina O'Blanc of Kinder and Angela Myers of Scottsdale, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Sidney Kern and Gertrude Alleman Kern; paternal grandparents, Willie J. Bonin and Marie Louise Weber Bonin; her aunt, Marion Kern Bergeron; her uncle, Merlin Kern and her mother-in-law, Dorothy Romero Myers. Pallbearers will be Thomas Bonin, John Bonin, Rusty Herring, Glenn Carbo, Lawrence Pellerin, Keith Miller and Esteban Quispe.
