Alton Joseph Gondron, Sr., 78, was born on April 6, 1937 to the late Louto Gondron and Anite Breaux Gondron and died peacefully on April 7, 2015 at his home. A memorial mass will be celebrated for Alton at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 10, 2015 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Loreauville. Fr. Buddy Breaux will be the celebrant. Alton was a lifelong resident of Loreauville. He enthusiastically devoted over thirty years of his life to his work as the owner and operator of Alton's Welding Service. He was an avid hunter and a longtime member of the Loreauville Hunting Club. His family and friends will remember him for his joyful spirit and happy-go-lucky attitude. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Deanna Walet Gondron; his children Kim Gondron Melancon and her husband Tim; Deidre Gondron Kibbe and her husband David; and Alton "Alley Boy" Gondron, Jr. He is also survived by three sisters, Mary Ann Derouen; Junelle Jefferies and husband, Gene; and Georgette Romero and husband C.L.; one brother, Jason Gondron and wife, Linda. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Rudy Derouen. He was the proud grandfather of seven grandchildren, Ashley Melancon Compton, Blake, Zachary, and Tyler Melancon; Hayden, Will, and Ali Kibbe; and one great grandchild, Khloe Compton. At Alton's request, his body will be donated to L.S.U. Health Sciences Center for the advancement of health science.
