New Iberia- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mrs. Effie Mire Theriot, age 75, on Friday May 1, 2015 at 11:00am at St. Marcellus Catholic Church with Father Eugene Tremie to serve as the Celebrant. Interment will follow at Broussard Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Thursday April 30, 2015 at 10:00am and conclude at 10:00pm with a recitation of the rosary at 6:00pm. Visitation will continue Friday May 1, 2015 from 8:00am until 10:30am. A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, "Toot" as she was affectionately known passed away on Tuesday April 28, 2015 at 7:44am at her residence. Mrs. Effie enjoyed cooking, listening to French music on the radio, and watching wrestling on television. As a devout Catholic, Mrs. Effie loved to go to church and was a parishioner of St. Marcellus Catholic Church. There were two things she held above all else, God and her family. Nothing made her happier than to be surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She lived for her family and she will be forever remembered as a loving and caring woman. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Martin Theriot Jr. and wife Analee, Melissa Gary, Ricky Theriot Sr. and wife Liz, Larry Theriot and wife Angela, Sandra Gerard and husband LeRoy Jr., Julie Theriot; brothers, Mercy Mire and wife Cindy, Murphy Mire and wife Myrtle; sister, Eva Duhon, daughters-in-law, Janet and Nova Theriot; son-in-law, Connie Viator; 30 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren on the way, and numerous godchildren all of New Iberia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Theriot Sr.; parents, Obin and Marie Gerard Mire; sons, Terry Theriot Sr., Jessie Theriot; daughters, Barbara Viator, Gail Theriot; grandson, Terry Theriot Jr.; Brothers, Ophie and Lurphy Mire. Upholding the honor of Pallbearers are Martin Theriot Jr., Larry Theriot, Ricky Theriot Sr., Ricky Theriot Jr., Sean Theriot, and LeRoy Gerard. Honorary Pallbearers include Alton Gary, Joshua Theriot, Joseph Theriot, Oscar Theriot and Devin Benoit.
