New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mrs. Jean Trahan, the former Mazie Aucoin, age 97, on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at 11:00am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Father Mark Derise serving as the Celebrant with musical accompaniment by Janet Sinitere. Interment will follow at Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery in Delcambre. Visitation will begin on Monday, May 11, 2015 at 2:00pm and will conclude at 9:00 pm with a recitation of the Rosary at 6:30 pm. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at 8:00 am until service time. A native of Vermilion Parish and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Trahan passed away on Friday May 8, 2015 at 9:15am at a local nursing facility. Mrs. Trahan loved to sew and was so skilled that she could re-create any clothing she saw without using a pattern. She was an extremely brilliant woman, despite her lack of formal education. In her earlier years, she and her husband enjoyed running Trahan's Grocery Store together, and it was one of the last neighborhood grocery stores that would take credit. She had a loving soul, and anytime a member of her family fell ill she would always take care of them. She was the matriarch of her family, and she always had the final say so. She is survived by her daughter Elvine Marie Landry of New Iberia; Son- in- law Huey Fred Hebert; Granddaughters Francine Hebert Darbonne and husband Kevin of Leblanc, La; Rachele Hebert LeJeune and husband Marty of New Iberia; Penny Olivia and husband Ray of Madison, Ms.; Kendra Case and husband Bryan of Long Beach, Ms; Grandsons Huey John Hebert and wife Elisa of Maurice La; Dave Patrick Trahan and wife Cindy of Atlanta, Ga; Great-Grandchildren Heather Olivia of Madison, Ms, Carly Case of Hattiesburg, Ms, Jason Trahan of Hiram, Ga, Joel Adam Case of Long Beach, Ms, Linzee LeJeune of New Iberia, Brodie LeJeune of New Iberia, Brennon Blanchard of Leblanc, La; Erin Hebert; Amber Hebert; and Riley Hebert all of Maurice, La. Great-Great Grandchildren include Tyler Trahan; Kaytlyn Trahan; and Courtney Trahan, all of Hiram, Ga. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jean "John" Trahan; her father Joseph Aucoin; her mother Evia Vincent Aucoin; her daughter Sable Hebert; and her brother C.D. Aucoin. Upholding the honor of Pallbearers will be Huey John Hebert, Brodie LeJeune, Brennon Blanchard, Jason Trahan, Joel Adam Case, and Dave Patrick Trahan. Honorary pallbearer will be Huey Fred Hebert.
