A native of New Iberia, and resident of Jeanerette, "Mema" as she was affectionately known passed away on Friday May 8, 2015 at 10:25pm surrounded by her family. Mrs. Elaine found great joy spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friends. She was a consummate mother and homemaker; and excellent cook who enjoyed preparing her family meals. Her chicken stew and cabbage rolls were her favorite dishes. She also enjoyed gardening, watering her flowers, and hummingbirds. Mrs. Foco was an avid softball fan from her younger days until now. It was her passion. In the 1970's she played softball for the Women's Softball League of Jeanerette. Her pitching ability was second to none and she was always proud of that. She also coached for the Jeanerette Girls Softball League and for Little League Girls Baseball. Many wonderful things happened for her at the ball park, including meeting the love of her life and husband of 65 years, Fritz Foco. She loved socializing and had a wonderful smile that could light up a room. Mrs. Elaine was a Volunteer Member of the Jeanerette Recreational Development Association for which she received recognition for her 30 years of service. She and her family worked tirelessly every year for the JRDA Ole Country Fair. Their specialty was the popgun booth, dime pitch, and duck pond.
