Marvin Deselles

Broussard- Funeral Services for Marvin Joseph DeSelles, 69, will be 1:00PM Saturday, May 23, 2015, in David Funeral Home of Lafayette with Deacon Cody Miller officiating at the service. Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home Saturday, May 23, 2015, from 10:30AM until time of service. Mr. DeSelles was a resident of Broussard and a native of New Orleans. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Broussard. Marvin was very generous and a naturally humorous person. He loved showering his wife, children and grandchildren with gifts, and making people laugh. Mr. DeSelles retired as a U.S. Deputy Marshal with the U.S. District Court in the Eastern District of Louisiana. He also served as an Air Interdiction Officer for the U.S. Dept of Customs and in total worked for the Federal Government for over thirty years. His hobbies included: motorcycling, raising money for charity, weight lifting, visiting with family and meeting with friends. Mr. DeSelles was an avid supporter of the Veterans Association and a member of the Blue Knights motor cycle club. Mr. DeSelles enlisted into the U.S. Army in July of 1964, and was honorably discharged February of 1971. He served three tours during the Vietnam War, and was a military police officer during that time. He earned many medals and badges of honor including, NDSM CIB, VSM PRCHT BDG, VCM EXP M-16, 4 O/S BARS, GCMD W/2 BZLPS, and ARCOM. He is survived by his wife Antoinette K. DeSelles; one brother, Ronald Pejares and wife Maxine Pejares of Chalmette; three step-daughters: Susan Sarradet Varuso and husband Rich Varuso of Metairie, Karen Sarradet McInnis of Mandeville, and Christine Sarradet Hayes and husband Keith G. Hayes of Lafayette; and six grandchildren: Mason R. Varuso, Andrew P. Varuso, Murdock D. McInnis, Sydney K. Hayes, Harrison G. Hayes and Peyton E. Hayes. He was preceded in death by his son Mark Joseph DeSelles; his parents: Marvin V. DeSelles and the former Bernice LeMoine DeSelles; and one sister,Geraldine Palmentier.
