Ashton Joseph Leblanc

Abbeville - Funeral Services were held for Ashton Joseph LeBlanc, age 86, of Abbeville, LA on Monday, July 06, 2015 at 4:15 PM at St. Paul Mausoleum. Visitation were held from 1:00 PM until time of services at David Funeral Home in Abbeville. Pallbearers were members of the local Masonic Lodge. Ashton passed away at his home on July 3, 2015. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary Lou (nee' Bernard); stepdaughter, Patricia Lavino; children, Robert, Emily and Tammy of Baton Rouge; grandson Alessio Lavino; brother and sister-in-law, Jude and Kitty (nee' Toups) of Erath; sister Clodora Comeaux of New Iberia; nephew Denny and his wife; and niece Ramona Dubois and her husband. He was preceded in death by his parents Leotard and Eula LeBlanc of Bayou Tigue; sister and brother-in-law Ludie and Dennis Bouillion of Erath; nephew Patrick Bouillion and son-in-law Angelo Lavino. Ashton was a 32nd degree Mason of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry and associated with Lodge No. 192 in Abbeville and the Habibi Shriners of Lake Charles. He worked for 39 years of his life as a heavy equipment operator for companies like Brown & Root, Kenyon, J Ray McDermott and Roy Young. These jobs afforded him the opportunity for travel around the United States, Mexico, Europe and Africa. Ashton was instrumental in the construction of 15 miles of Freshwater Bayou and the widening of the Delcambre Canal. For 27 years he worked for the Water Treatment Plant for the City of Abbeville from which he retired two years ago.
