Broussard - Mass of Christian Burial will be held for William Preston "Bill" Blanchard, Jr, age 62, on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial in the church Mausoleum. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 from 12:00 pm until 9:00 pm at David Funeral Home and will continue on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 from 8:00 am until time of service with Rev. William "Bill" Ruskoski officiant. Recitation of the rosary will be held at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, July 14, 2015. Mr. Blanchard was a native and resident of Broussard was a self-employed Petroleum Consultant for six and a half years and was in the oil industry for 38 years. He was a 3rd degree Knight of Columbus, past Grand Knight, former District Deputy and charter member of the Sacred Heart Council 7557. He was also an Eagle Scout, coached recreational baseball for nearly 20 years and a member of the Cajun Golf Association. He was an extraordinary man; a kind and humble soul always observant of a wounded or broken spirit and made it his vocation to touch the lives of many. His greatest accomplishment by his own merit was that of his of three sons whom he loved so very much filling his chest with deep pride and the unyielding love he had for his wife Trudy, the love of his life. He exemplified the true meaning of the term, "a Good Man". He will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife Trudy A Doucet Blanchard of 44 years; sons Jared Paul Blanchard and wife Mia Meche Blanchard of Milton, Jason Lane Blanchard and wife Dawn Lormand Blanchard of Milton and William Preston Blanchard, III and wife Shaunna Manual Blanchard of Broussard; brothers William Carson Blanchard of South Florida, Crain Burl Blanchard and wife Vickey of Crowley, and Carey Edward Blanchard and wife Jennifer of Lafayette; and six grandchildren, William "Preston" Blanchard, IV, Zane, Kainen, Corrinne and Briege Boy Blanchard. Pallbearers will be Carson Blanchard, Crain Blanchard, Carey Blanchard, Buz Reid, Joey Winters and Raymond Girouard and his sons will serve as honorary pallbearers. He was preceded in death by his parents William Preston Blanchard, Sr. and Margaretta Carson Blanchard.
