New Iberia - Funeral services will be conducted for Slade Shane Thomas Louviere Sr., 47, on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Loreauville with Father Buddy Breaux officiating. Burial will follow in Beau Pre Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday, July 27, 2015, from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM and resume on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at 8:00 AM until 10:15 AM. A native and resident of New Iberia, Slade passed away on Friday, July 24, 2015, at 12:12 PM at his residence. Slade was 47 years old, had four wonderful children, Mary Chelsea Louviere, Elizabeth Raquel Louviere, Slade Shane Thomas Louviere Jr., Gabrielle Frances Louviere and a beautiful grandson, Brittian who just made a year old. He was diagnosed with brain cancer in January, doctors removed the tumor. His spirits were high, all or ours were, he was going to be ok. Less than six weeks later, doctors said the tumor was back, and could not operate this time and was told to go home and make the most of the time he had left. First it robbed him of the ability to speak, then the ability to move the right side of his body. He became trapped in his own body, understanding everything but unable to respond. How cruel!! He will forever be grateful to his mom Mercy Louviere, his sister Leeannda Moore and his oldest brother Rocky DeRouen for being there day in and day out to take care of him. We all know how hard it must have been to watch a vibrant, healthy man that we love, disappear before your eyes. We will be the first to say that Slade could be a real ass at times but he was a fair and honest ass. He loved cutting his grass, sitting out in the yard with a cold Miller Genuine Draft feeding his chickens and he loved his animals. When he laughed it came from his heart, just as he loved with all his heart. He loved his FAMILY, the whole dysfunctional lot of us. It wasn't an uncommon sight to find everyone gathered on his front porch on any given weekend while he stood in front of his grill and cooked a feast fit for kings. For him to look at his family and know that he would never walk his daughters down the aisle, never see his son graduate from college, never watch his grandson play ball, our heart breaks into a thousand tiny pieces. We couldn't imagine not watching our children grow into mature adults chasing their dreams, our grandchildren grow, dance and play ball. We know life goes on and we learn to cope, to move forward, this journey we will be taken with us on our hands and knees, crawling. There is no strength in us to stand. We always greeted you with Hey and a Hug and we will again one day. We will miss you, we love you always. Slade is survived by his mother, Mercedes Curtis Louviere of New Iberia; his children, Mary Chelsea Louviere, Elizabeth Raquel Louviere, Gabrielle Frances Louviere and Slade Shane Thomas Louviere Jr.; his grandchild, Brittain Scott Bourque Jr. all of New Iberia; his brothers, Lawrence "Rocky" DeRouen and his wife Lori of Laprye, TX and Curtis Damian Louviere and his wife Megan of Abbeville and his sisters, Leeannda DeRouen Moore and her husband Kenneth, Scarlett Louviere Sumrall and her husband Steve all of New Iberia and Kayann Louviere Fanello and her husband Dominic of Nashville, TN. He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Thomas Louviere and his sisters, Mercy Ann and Mary Ann Louviere. Pallbearers will be Lawrence "Rocky" DeRouen, Curtis Damian Louviere, Allen Paulas Viator, Thomas Louviere, Steven Jacob Sumrall and Slade Shane Thomas Louviere Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Moore, Kent Byron, Steve Sumrall and Lance Savoy.
