Josephine "Josie" Viator

Josephine "Mom" Viator New Iberia- Funeral services for Mrs. Josephine Melancon Viator, age 73, will be held on Wednesday August 5, 2015 at 10:30am at the David Funeral Home Chapel with Fr. Ed Degeyter to serve as the Celebrant. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will begin on Tuesday August 4, 2015 from 5:00pm until 9:00pm with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00pm. Visitation will continue on Wednesday August 5, 2015 from 8:00am until service time. A native of Lafayette, resident of Basile and longtime resident of New Iberia, "Josie" as she was affectionately known passed away on Sunday August 2, 2015 at 12:07am at a Basile nursing facility. "Josie" enjoyed playing bingo, cooking, watching tv and listening to French music. But what she held most dear was the time spent with family and friends. Left to cherish her memory are her children, George Viator and husband Paul Touchet of Lafayette, Allen Viator and wife Judy of Coteau, Buffy Duhon and husband Russell of New Iberia, Kenneth Viator of Lake Charles; sister, Nita Scott of Baldwin, Alice Gary and husband Russell of Coteau, Angelina Thibodeaux of Lafayette, Delta Juno and husband Al of Lafayette; grandchildren, David Michael LeBlanc, Kevin Anthony LeBlanc, Todd Michael Viator, Alayna Nicole Viator, Noah Viator; step-grandchildren, Jami Lynn Vu and husband Luan, Kayla Landry, Ashley Landry, David Landry; great grandchildren, Xander Lee LeBlanc, Kammi Rose LeBlanc McKinzie Camacho, Dylen Camacho, Legend Vu, Abigail Vu, Kiah Maxie, Jasmine Brown, Tyree Landry, Diamond Alexis, Logan Landry, and Brey Landry. She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Joseph Viator Jr.; parents, George Melancon and Alphonice Angelle Melancon; siblings, Joseph Melancon, Mary LeBlanc; granddaughter, Brittany Viator; step-granddaughter, Russelle Landry; and half-sister, Lucille Molbert. Upholding the honor of Pallbearers will be Todd Viator, George Viator, Kenneth Viator, Russell Duhon, Butch Gary and Jim Marceaux.
