Patricia d. Broussard New Iberia- Ms. Pat joined Big Bob in heaven on August 2, 2015 after giving every ounce of living she had to give to life. She did not stop even one breath sooner than it was her time to leave us. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Patricia Rita de la Houssaye Broussard, age 86, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in New Iberia on Wednesday August 5, 2015 at 2:00pm with Father Gary Schexnayder to serve as the Celebrant. Interment will follow at Holy Family Mausoleum. Visitation will begin on Tuesday August 4, 2015 at David Funeral Home at 5:00pm and conclude at 9:00pm with a recitation of the rosary at 6:30pm. Visitation will resume on Wednesday from 8:00am until service time. She was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a friend. But above all she was a Teacher. She taught and tutored in the classroom for a total of fifty years, returning to the school system after she retired the first time to become a florist for ten years. But she was a teacher in our lives for all of her life. Ms. Pat participated or was a member in many organizations throughout her life. Some of which were the United Gas Blue Flame Club, Les Amis Club, Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts, St. Gabriel Prison Ministry, CHS/MCA Mothers Club. She also served as a Maid of the Krewe of Andalusia, and as a Pre-Cana Marriage Counselor. Through the years she was involved in various state and local teacher organizations and was awarded Teacher of the Year and Second Wind Award. In her spare time she enjoyed crafts and baking, especially her lemon cakes. Survivors include her children, Robert F. Broussard Jr. and wife Janet Marie of New Iberia, Allen Patrick Broussard of New Iberia, Patricia Rita Broussard Viator and husband Gene of Delcambre, Paul Fleming Broussard and wife Catherine of New Iberia, Bernard Edward Broussard and wife Vicky Lee of New Iberia; sister, Geraldine Allyn de la Houssaye Lopez of Beaumont, TX; grandchildren, Reneé Nicole Segura, Robert F. Broussard III, Patrick John Broussard, Douglas Martin Broussard, Mary Elizabeth Lejeune, Alex Nicole Broussard, Reid Andrew Broussard, Benjamin Guy Lejeune, Geneé Nicholle Guilbeaux, Nicholas Paul Viator, Natalie Claire Dunigan, Dawn Elaine Hebert, Phillip Paul Broussard, Beau Robert Broussard, Avery Allen-Joseph Broussard, Claire Catherine-Patricia Broussard, Jolie Marie Broussard, Cameron André Broussard, Monique Angellé Broussard; and 21 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Robert F. Broussard Sr; parents Allen George and Mabel Marie de la Houssaye; brothers-in-law, Charles Ray Lopez, John Edward Broussard Sr., Patrick J. Broussard Jr; sisters-in-law, Leola LeBlanc Broussard, Vallie Jean Moore Broussard; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth "Beth" Rodrigue Broussard; and great grandson, Gabriel Thomas Segura. Upholding the honor of Pallbearers are Robert F. Broussard Jr., Allen P. Broussard, Paul F. Broussard, Bernard E. Broussard, Gene G. Viator, and Patricia R. Viator. Ms. Pat wanted to thank everyone in her family and everyone who assisted in her care. She appreciated each and every one of you. It was the great efforts of those around her, her family and her sitters that enabled Ms. Pat to live out her life the way she wanted to. Special thanks to her Daughter-in-law Janet Marie Martin Broussard for her devoted care. It meant so much to her to be able to be with her family in the end. She loved each and every one of you.
