ERATH-A Mass of Christian Burial for Joseph R.J. "Slim" Nunez, 90, will be at 11:00AM Saturday August 8, 2015 in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Rev. Bill Melancon officiating. Entombment will be in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Mausoleum. Visitation will be Friday August 7, 2015 in David Funeral Home of Erath from 10:00AM until 9:00PM with recitation of the rosary at 7:00PM. Visitation will resume Saturday from 8:00 until service time. R.J., a native and life resident of Erath passed away Wednesday August 5, 2015 in his residence. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He retired from Texaco as a Tool Pusher after 41 years of service. He is survived by his wife of 68 years Margerine Nunez; 3 sons Scotty Nunez and wife Harriet, Jason Nunez and companion Alice Leger, and Carson Nunez and wife Fran all of Erath; 2 daughters Vickie Nunez of New Iberia, and Lanette LeBlanc and husband Robert of Delcambre; 2 half sisters Grace Perrin and husband Huey of Lafayette, and Lou Thibodeaux and husband Earl of Milton; 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his father Lloyd Nunez, his step father and mother Elien and Lucette Mailhes, a half brother Carold Nunez, a son Earlon Nunez, 2 grandsons Kent Nunez and Joshua LeBlanc. Serving as his Pallbearers will be Eric LeBlanc, Mark Nunez, Jade Nunez, Beau Nunez, Kyle Nunez, Mitchell Nunez, and Kirk Nunez. David Funeral Home of Erath is in charge of arrangements,209 E.
