New Iberia - Funeral services will be conducted for Merlin Joseph "PaPoo" Fremin, 86, on Friday, September 11, 2015, at 1:00 PM in the David Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Patrick Burke officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Family Mausoleum with Military Graveside Honors by the New Iberia Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation will be on Friday, September 11, 2015, from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM and a rosary will be prayed in the funeral home at 10:30 AM. A native and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Fremin passed away on Wednesday, September 9, 2015, at 11:36 AM in a New Iberia hospital. He was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict having served in the U. S. Army. He was a dairy farmer for many years and later was a heavy equipment operator for F & R Contractors and retired with the Iberia Parish Government. He is survived by his nephew, who he looked at as his son, Kenric Fremin and his wife Marnell of New Iberia; those he looked at as his grandchildren, Kenzie Fremin, Damien Burgess, Kalli Fremin, Jade Viator and Robbie Landry all of New Iberia; those he looked at as his great grandchildren, Hagan Landry, Brennan Landry both of Ferriday, Kaiden Burgess, Kyler Burgess and Harli Grace Viator all of New Iberia; his brothers, Olan Fremin and Roy Fremin both of New Iberia; his sister, Dolores Bienvenu of New Iberia and a host of nieces, nephews, brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sadie Olivier Fremin; his father, Roosevelt Fremin; his mother, Flavie Comeaux Fremin; his brother, Dalton Fremin and his sisters, Louella Judice, Beverly Derouen and Mayfie Fremin. Pallbearers will be Steve Fremin, Damien Burgess, Kaiden Burgess, Robbie Landry, Leonard "Len" Judice, Jr. and Cory Bienvenu.
