Erath - A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Lee L. Bernard the former Vella Mae Comeaux, 90, will be held at 10:00AM on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Fr. Gayle Nunez officiating. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery. Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Erath on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 from 12:00PM until 9:00PM with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00PM. Visitation will resume on Thursday, September 17, 2015 from 8:00AM until the time of the services. A native and lifelong resident of Erath, Mrs. Vella Mae died at 7:04AM on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at her residence. She was a member of the Demitasse Club and The Catholic Daughter of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. She was known for cooking and entertaining friends and family. Mrs. Vella Mae will be greatly missed by all those who knew her. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Lee Louis Bernard of Erath; a son, Shelby L. Bernard and his wife Debbie of Erath; a daughter, Deana B. Simon of Erath; a sister, Rable Girouard of Erath; six grandchildren, Ross Simon and his wife Courtney, Kallen Simon, Alie Broussard and her husband Gavin, Jill Bernard and her companion Kurt Newsome, Bo Bernard and his wife Brooke, and Chesie Vargas and her husband Christian; and nine great grandchildren, Kennedi Simon, William Simon, Camille Simon, BraeLeigh Suire, Tatem Suire, Elizabeth Bernard, Shelbi Grace Bernard, Cami Lee Vargas, and Chett Vargas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Azard and Louria Nunez Comeaux; and a sister, Claira Dean Comeaux. Serving as pallbearers will be Ross Simon, Kallen Simon, Bo Bernard, Christian Vargas, Phillip Nunez, and Gavin Broussard. David Funeral Home of Erath at 209 E.
