Mrs. Desormeaux was the owner and operator of Mary Dee's Bakery and she also worked with her family at Sea Chef, a fresh fish and seafood market. She was well known for her "Mary Dee's Fish Chips" a snack she and her husband would make together. In her earlier day she owned race horses and found the winners circle many times with her son, Lawrence Jr. who was the jockey and then trainer. Mrs. Mary was an 18 year volunteer at many nursing homes including Consolata and Iberia Manor North. She enjoyed taking bus trips to the casino with the Council on Aging. She was considered by many to be a professional gambler for over 30 years and her favorite card games was Bourré. When Mrs. Mary wasn't always on the go, she enjoyed watching "The Young and the Restless" and attending Mass multiple times a week as the Devout Catholic that she was.
