Jeanerette - Funeral services will be conducted for Alfred G. Buteaux, Sr., 83, on Thursday, October 29, 2015, at 3:00 PM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic with Father Charles Langlois officiating. Burial will follow in Beau Pre Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 28, 2015, from 5:00 PM until 8:30 PM and resume on Thursday, October 29, 2015, at 11:00 AM until 2:45 PM. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Wednesday at 7:00 PM. A native and resident of Jeanerette, Mr. Buteaux passed away on Monday, October 26, 2015, at 8:10 AM in a New Iberia nursing facility. Mr. Buteaux was a retired Manager with Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. He served in the Louisiana Army National Guard. He was a Golden Glove Boxer and an avid golfer and in his younger years he had numerous golf championships and played softball and football. He was a High School State Football Champion at Jeanerette Senior School and held the State Title of Pole Vaulting and Track. He earned a Scholarship to Southwestern Louisiana Institute for Pole Vaulting and Track. He spent many years taking care of the family farm, now known as "The Country". His most cherished moments were those spent with his family. He is survived by his son, Robert J. "Bobby" Buteaux and his wife Cynthia of New Iberia; his daughters, Brenda B. Landry and her husband Mark of New Iberia, Pamela B. Desormeaux of Galveston, TX, Kim B. Coleman and her husband Lat of New Iberia, Tracy B. Etie and her husband Terry of Loreauville and Lisa B. Himel and her husband Jed of New Iberia; his sisters, Louise Buteaux Decuir of Rolling Fork, Miss. And Dianne Buteaux Guillotte and her husband Dickie of Jeanerette; her sister's-in-law, Peggy Klingler and Helen Dore and her husband Tommy all of New Iberia; his grandchildren, Robby Buteaux, Rebecca Buteaux McGee, Zach Buteaux, Zeb Buteaux, Renee' Landry Saunier, Anita Landry Helveston, Virginia Landry Dunn, Jan Landry, Jennifer Desormeaux, Maxine Desormeaux Aguilar, Reggie Desormeaux, Hannah Coleman, Madeline Coleman, Marnie Ritter Hoyt, Kenneth "Kary" Ritter, III, Logan Ritter, Samantha Ritter, Olivia Himel and Evan Himel; his great grandchildren, Chase Buteaux, Kamryn Buteaux, Gunner Buteaux, Gabrielle McGee, Nicholas McGee, Justin Buteaux, Gage Buteaux, Sadie Mae Buteaux, Rylee Buteaux, Britain Saunier, Drew Helveston, Alex Helveston, Collin Helveston, Gabe Dunn, Aubrey Dunn, Jules Landry, Alyssa Vela, Beau Desormeaux, Ava Aguilar, Lila Mae Aguilar, Bailey Desormeaux, Drew Desormeaux, Ellery Hoyt, Dylan Hoyt, Reese Hoyt and Lilly Claire Hebert; his step-grandchildren, Tessie Etie Baehr, Stacie Etie Molaison and Travis Etie Molaison; his step-great grandchildren, Christian Etie, Joshua Etie, Angelle Etie, Gabrielle Etie, Zacharial Baehr, Briana Baehr, Ellianna Baehr, and Kali Delcambre; his step-great great grandchildren, Breanna Serette, Eric Delcambre and Gavin Delcambre and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty years, Georgia LeBlanc Buteaux; his parents, Louis Alfred Buteaux and Eterre Dugas Buteaux; his son, Alfred "Al" Buteaux, Jr.; his son's-in-law, Kevin J. Desormeaux and Dr. Kenneth Ritter, Jr.; his sisters, Dorena Buteaux Girouard and Rosemary Buteaux Vaccarella; his brother's-in-law, Kelly Klingler, Mickey Decuir, Ernest Girouard and Sam Vaccarella and a great grandchild, Jaden T. Buteaux. Pallbearers will be Robert "Bobby" Buteaux, Mark Landry, Lat Coleman, Terry Etie, Jed Himel, Tommy Dore and Reggie Desormeaux.
