New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for David J. Simoneaud, age 39, at 11:00 am Thursday, November 19, 2015 at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Fr. Nicholas Dupre officiating. Debbie Ayala and Tammy Gaspard will serve as lectures and Leanna Simoneaud, Soniah Rodrigue, and Carly S. Chevalon will serve as gift bearers. Interment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Wednesday with a rosary at 7:00 pm. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 am on Thursday until service time. A native of New Iberia and resident of Opelousas, David passed away at 2:20 pm on Sunday, November 15, 2015 doing what he loved best camping with his daughters, family and friends. David was a 1994 graduate of Catholic High School in New Iberia. In his youth he was an altar server at St. Peter's Catholic Church. After graduation he became a cross country truck driver for JB Hunt and others for many years. His CB handle was Pathfinder and Captain Hook. Changing his career he became a crane operator and recently received national and OSHA certification to operate a 60 to 120 ton crane. He was a member of the Wasted Kustomz Car Club and made many friends through this club. In his spare time he enjoyed playing pool, but his most enjoyable pastime was camping in his 5th wheeler. He enjoyed watching history documentaries and his favorite movies were Star Track and the Star Wars Collection. He looked forward to the viewing of the upcoming Star Wars, Episode VII, The Force Awakens. He is survived by his daughters, Soniah Rodrigue, McKayla Rodrigue and Leanna Simoneaud; his parents, Roy and Toni Simoneaud, two sisters Carly S. Chevalon and Mandy S. Boudreaux and husband Nick, his nephews Tanner and Sawyer Chevalon, his maternal grandfather Dudley J David Sr.; Godfather Bill David and Godmother Debbie Ayala; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. A close family friend Mrs. Betty Voorhies. He is also survived by his special friends Chance and Tabbie Landry and their son Cayden. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Leona T. David and his paternal grandparents V.P. and Hazel Simoneaud. Pallbearers will be Chance Landry, Jude Leblanc, Brandon Segura, Bill David, Dudley David Jr. and Steven David. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandfather Dudley David Sr. and close family friend Jerome Gaspard. Music selections include: Hear I Am Lord; The Lord is my Shepherd; Be Not Afraid; Amazing Grace; On Eagles Wings and will be sung by a close family friend Lisa Roy Sheppert.
