A native of New Iberia, Donnie was born on August 18, 1945 in Bunkie, LA. He was owner of Dupuis Electrical Wholesale, as well as a professional woodworker. He enjoyed spending time in his wood shop with his 2 boys and grandson. Donnie was extremely well known as one of the finest cabinetmakers in south Louisiana. He took great pride in his work and there was nothing that he could not do with a piece of wood. He was a member of the Teche Woodworkers and held many meetings in his shop. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as other outdoor activities such as remote-controlled powerboat racing. He loved to travel with his family in the motor home and meet new people. He has left a lifetime of memories to cherish from trips all over the country. NASCAR was his favorite pass time in front of the TV, pulling for Jimmie Johnson every weekend. He was honorably discharged from the United States National Guard after 6 years of service.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 46 years, Elizabeth “Betty” Judice Dupuis. She never left his side and gave him the most devout care that anyone could hope for. She is truly an inspiration. He is also survived by his 2 sons, Randall A. Dupuis and wife Catrina Dupuis of New Iberia, Chad A. Dupuis and wife Abby A. Dupuis of Lewisville, TX, 2 cherished grandkids, Andrew John Dupuis and Savannah Ann Dupuis, His mother Ruth Johnson Dupuis of New Iberia, and last but certainly not least his faithful dog Lester.
He was preceded in death by his father Andrew Dupuis of New Iberia, paternal grandparents Andre and Adevina Latiolais Dupuis of Cecilia; maternal grandparents David and Alice Bettevy Johnson of Evergreen, LA.
He will be laid to eternal rest in a solid oak casket, lovingly hand crafted by his 2 sons. Daughters in law also assisted in the making.
