A parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Broussard since first becoming an altar boy and a supporter of St. Joseph’s Church in Broussard, Charles carried his faith into everyday life. He thoroughly enjoyed providing encouragement to others, helping in any way he could and giving to those in need. Among his many gifts from God was the ability to see the talents and potential in others, when often they could not see it in themselves.
A mechanical engineer by vocation, Charles retired as a Divisional Chief and Operations Manager from Entex Gas in New Iberia after 28 years. He was most passionate about his work as cattle rancher, though, saying that he loved the “authentic work ethic” that came from working on the farm with his cows. Earlier in his career, he was a Second Lieutenant and navigator in the Air Force. He remained civic minded, being involved in several community organizations including Rotary Club of New Iberia .
He is survived by his childhood sweetheart, best friend and loving wife of 59 ½ years, Patsy Landry Morvant; his adored daughters Julie Wooley, husband Gary, and Patrice Doucet; along with his pride and joy, grandsons Chase and Grant Wooley and Brennan Doucet.
He was preceded in death by his parents Laodice and Rosie Morvant and his sister Mary Margaret Gondron.
Father Bill Ruskoski, of Sacred Heart Church, will be the celebrant of the funeral mass. Pallbearers will be: Gary Wooley, Chase Wooley, Grant Wooley, Brennan Doucet, Ray Gary and Mayor Charlie Langlinais.
