ERATH-A Mass of Christian Burial for Georgia L. Mergist, 81, will be 11:00AM, Tuesday, December 15, 2015 in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Father Bill Melancon officiating. Entombment will follow in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 14, 2015 from 4:00PM until 9:00PM with a recitation of the rosary at 6:30PM at David Funeral Home of Erath . Visitation will resume on Tuesday December 15, 2015 from 8:00AM until service time.
Georgia, a native and lifelong resident of Erath passed away Friday, December 11, 2015. She retired as a teacher from Erath High School after many years of service. She had a great love for her family and fishing.
She is survived by her siblings; Ruth M. Landry and husband Calvin of Erath, Adam B. Mergist and wife Dot of Erath, Connie M. LeBlanc and husband Francis of Erath, Genevieve M. Touchet and husband Timothy of Delcambre, Bradley Mergist and wife Barbara of Erath, Annette B. Benoit and husband Richard of Abbeville, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents Adam and Eunite Hebert Mergist, her brother Paul S. Mergist, an infant sister Emily Lou Mergist, a nephew Adam E. Gaspard, great nephews Charles "Chas" Milliman and Gideon Broussard, a great niece Chloe Mergist, and a godchild Kay Kelly.
Serving as her Pallbearers will be Gregory Touchet, Jeremy Touchet, Matt LeBlanc, Brandon Landry, Lance Mergist, and Aaron Gaspard.
Serving as her Honorary Pallbearers will be Francis LeBlanc, Timothy Touchet, Richard Benoit and Calvin Landry.
