Edolia Demette Savoy

Youngsville - Funeral Services for Mrs. Edolia “Sue Soon” Demette Savoy, 94, will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at St. Anne Catholic Church with Deacon Cody Miller officiating.   Interment will follow at St. Anne’s Mausoleum.

Visitation will be at David Funeral Home of Lafayette on Friday, December 18, 2015 from 4:00PM until 9:00PM with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00PM.  Visitation will resume on Saturday, December 19, 2015 from 8:00AM until the time of the services.

Edolia “ Sue Soon” was born to Joe and Laura Viator Demette on August 31, 1921 in Maurice, LA.  She died on December 17, 2015 at 6:19PM at her residence in Youngsville surrounded by her family.  She married Lores Savoy, Sr.  on September 20, 1939 and they had three children.  She was a farmer’s wife, homemaker, and mother.  She cleaned house, ironed clothes for family and friend, and babysat her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She loved to cook and bake.  Her specialty that her family fondly remembers are her tarts, fudge, and rice dressing.   She enjoyed playing cards with her special cousins; Anna Mae, Diana, and Olita.  She was also a member of St. Anne’s Alter Society of Youngsville.

She is Survived by a son, Lorris Savoy, Jr. and his wife Rose; two daughters, Shirley Sonnier and her husband David and Laura Carlin and her fiancé Russell Meche; twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren,  six great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be her great grandsons.

Serving as gift bearers will be three of her great granddaughters and music will be provided by Jodi Bollich.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to her caregivers over the last three and a half years; Joann, Tracey, Kelly, Zelda, Jeannie, Melanie, and especially Sable for her daily care and companionship, and the nurses and staff of Lamm Family Care Hospice.
