Nelson Boudreaux, Sr.

New Iberia-- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Nelson Louis Boudreaux Sr., 85, on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. Peters Catholic Church with Fr. Gary Schexnyder to serve as the Celebrant.  Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will begin on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a recitation of the Rosary at 6:30 PM. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 from 9:00 AM until service time.

A native of  and resident of New Iberia, Nelson Louis Boudreaux, Sr. passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2015 at 7:05 AM at Iberia Medical Center.

Nelson will always be remembered as the Tamale Man. He and Barbara are the owners and operators of a local tamale company “Miss Hannah’s Hot Tamale House". He was a man who was quite the joker, loved going to the casino to play the poker machines and was a BIG WINNER on the poker machines. He served as a Scout Master with the Boy Scouts of America for many years. Mr. Nelson will also be best known for his efforts in establishing the first Alcoholics Anonymous Chapter in New Iberia and celebrated 53 years of sobriety.

Nelson is survived by his spouse, Barbara Clement; Daughter, Norma B. Cormier and husband Nathan of New Iberia; Son, William L. Boudreaux and wife Debra Stout of Brusly, LA; Son, Kenneth P. Boudreaux and wife Debbie of Kaplan; Son, Nelson Boudreaux, Jr. and wife Ethel of New Iberia; Step Son, Shane Clement of Kaplan; Step Son, Shannon Clement and wife Monica of Youngsville; Step Daughter; Kim L. Clement of Scott, Sister, Mazie B. Landry of New Iberia.

Nelson is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Nelson is preceded in death by his spouse, Enola Leleux Boudreaux, his parents; Gabriel Boudreaux and Maria Landry Boudreaux; his sisters, Elia Boudreaux Culp, Hazel Mary Delahoussaye, and Judy Comeaux; brothers, Ernest J. Boudreaux and Paul W. Boudreaux; and his granddaughter Katelyn Boudreaux.

Upholding the honor of Pallbearers are William L Boudreaux, Kenneth P. Boudreaux, Nelson Boudreaux, Jr., Shannon Clement, Gerad "B.G." Landry, III, Nathan Cormier, Terry Esfeller, Kenneth Boudreaux, Jr. and Brady Bowen.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Gerald Viator, and K. J. Brasseaux.

The family of Mr. Nelson would like to offer special thanks to the Iberia Medical staff especially to the staff of the ICU; Dr. Salvatore Buttaci and his staff, Dr Gerard F. Sigue and his staff, Dr Carl Ditch and his staff, and Dr J.Darvin Hales and his staff also Dr. Kenneth Ritter and his staff for all their support and compassion.
