Florence Mestayer
May 26, 1929 — January 25, 2016
Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and resume on Thursday, January 28, 2016, from 8:00 AM until the time of service. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Wednesday at 7:00 PM.
A native of St. Martinville and a resident of Loreauville, Mrs. Mestayer passed away on Monday, January 25, 2016, at 10:30 AM in a New Iberia hospital.
She was the first receptionist at LaSalette Memorial Hospital and also was the receptionist for Dr. Ralph Finley. She was a bookkeeper for Iberia Sugar Mill, Vida Shaw Sugar Mill and Cajun Co-Op. She served as the Town Clerk for the Village of Loreauville. She retired from the State of Louisiana and served as an Euchristic Minister for 30 years.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Angus F. Mestayer of Loreauville; her son, Karl J. Mestayer and his wife Catherine of Lafayette; her grandchildren, Lauren M. McElligott and her husband Patrick of Lafayette, John B. Mestayer and his wife Stacy of Clearwater, FL and Christopher F. Mestayer of Houston, TX; her great grandchild, Reid A. Mestayer of Clearwater, FL and her nephew, Alan Broussard of Breaux Bridge.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jean Moulis and Lena Solari Moulis; her siblings, Ralph Moulis, Wallace J. Moulis, Ret. Col., J. Donald Moulis, Rowena M. Boudreaux, Warren Moulis and her granddaughter, infant grand daughter Amy Theresa Mestayer.
Serving as pallbearers will be Christopher Mestayer, John Mestayer, Alan Broussard, David Moulis, Patrick McElligott and Darren Blackwell.
Serving as honorary pallbearer Reid A. Mestayer.
