Marinell Miller Kendrick

Abbeville – Funeral Services for Marinell Miller Kendrick will be held at the Abbeville United Methodist Church Friday, February 5, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. John Vining officiating.  Interment will follow at St. Paul Cemetery.

Visitation will be at David Funeral Home of Abbeville on Thursday, February 4, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and resume on Friday, February 5, 2016 from 9:00PM to 3:00PM

Marinell Miller Kendrick , of Abbeville passed away  Monday, February 1st   at Eastridge Nursing Home surrounded by her family and caregivers.  Marinell was born May 15, 1932 in Hico, Texas.  She moved to Abbeville in the mid 1950's so that her husband could work in the oilfield.  Even though Roy worked out of Morgan City, they decided to move their family to Abbeville because it was such a pretty town.  Marinell was a very active leader in the Abbeville United Methodist Church.  She was a long time Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher, youth director, choir member, and served on the board.  She enjoyed bringing her children, grandchildren and finally great grandchildren to practice so that they could all participate in the annual Christmas nativity there.

Marinell was a stay at home mom until her older daughter was in high school.  She then worked for TG &Y many years until it closed.  She enjoyed spending time with her church ladies, baking and was an excellent seamstress.  Marinell was a wonderful caretaker and was always available to take anyone to the doctors' office or to run errands if they were unable to manage on their own.

Marinell is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and her husband Danny Richard of Intracoastal City and Karen and her husband Chris Claunch of Crosby, Texas.  Her grandchildren include Erica Duhon, Casie Gaudet and husband, Bobby, Lauri Duhon and Lisa Lebouef and husband, Glenn, of Abbeville,  Corey and Alli Claunch of Round Rock, Texas, Dr. Kevin and Kelley Claunch of Pilot Point, Texas and Kyle Claunch of Houston, Texas.  Great grandchildren are Recruit Ross Gaudet, San Diego, California, Kristin, Chase And Brant Cabrol,  Madeline Gaudet, Gavin Tucker, Ana Rene Duhon, Aiden  Lebouef, and Jaxson, Julia, August,and William Claunch.

Preceding her in death were her husband of 62 years, Roy Kendrick; father, J.P. Miller; mother, Lena Miller and stepmother Dorcas Miller as well as her brothers, J.R. Miller, Roy David Miller, Ben Miller, T.B Miller and her sister Mildred Cannon.

Pall bearers are Chris Claunch, Danny Richard, Bobby Gaudet, Corey Claunch, Kevin Claunch, Kyle Claunch, Chase Cabrol, and Gavin Tucker.  Honorary pallbearer is Recruit Ross Gaudet.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Abbeville Methodist Church or to the charity of your choice.
