Laura Desormeaux Derouen

Erath - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mrs. Laura Desormeaux Derouen, 54, on Monday, February 15, 2016 at 3:30 PM at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Fr. Bill Melancon to serve as the Celebrant.  Interment will follow at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery.

Visitation will at David Funeral Home of Erath on Monday, February 15, 2016 from 8:30AM until the time of the services with a recitation of the rosary at11:00AM.

A native of Erath and resident of Erath, Mrs. Derouen passed away on Friday, February 12, 2016 at 4:28PM at her residence.  Laura lived for the love of her family and her four grandchildren were the light of her life.  Nothing was better than time spent with them making memories.  After working at the post office for over 26 years, she leaves behind her extended family there that she loved and felt blessed to have as part of her life.  Laura’s daily prayer was:

“Lord thank you for counting worthy to stand in your presence and serve you.  Please look not on my sins, but on my faith and grant me peace and unity in your kingdom where you live forever and ever. Amen”

She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Tony Derouen of Erath; two daughters, Amy Hargrave and her husband Christopher of Erath and Jessica Suire and Her Husband Drew of Erath; two brothers, Donald J. Desormeaux, Jr.of Abbeville and Michael James Desormeaux of Abbeville: a sister, Linda Desormeaux of Abbeville; four grandchildren, Aiden Hargrave, Gabriel Hargrave, Randi Suire, Camille Suire; and her mother in law, Annabelle Derouen.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald Joseph Desormeaux, Sr. and Hazel Irene Desormeaux; and a son, Adam Derouen.

Upholding the honor of Pallbearers are Donald J. Desormeaux, Jr., Michael James Desormeaux, Christopher Hagrave, Drew Suire, Nathan Trahan, and David Bourque.
