New Iberia – Funeral services will be conducted for Alvia Smith Gonzales, 79, on Saturday, March 5, 2016, at 1:00 PM at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church with Father Mario Romero officiating. Burial will follow at Nativity of Our Lady Mausoleum.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 4, 2016, from 10:00 AM until 10:00 PM and resume on Saturday, March 5, 2016, at 8:00 AM until 12:30 PM. Fr. Mark Miley will recite the rosary in the funeral home on Friday at 7:00 PM.
A native of Ohio and a resident of Broussard and a former resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Gonzales passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at 1:32 AM in a Broussard nursing facility.
She loved playing Pokeno, Bingo, Bouree’, was a member of a Bowling League and was an excellent hack golfer. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and family.
She is survived by her children, Ryan Gonzales, Tiffney Gonzales and her fiance’ Chanse Boudreaux all of New Iberia, Carrie Lasseigne and her companion Michael Diaz of Denham Springs, Dell Alan Gonzales and his wife Blanca of Broussard, Tonie Boudreaux and her husband Ric of Lafayette, Cindy Comeaux and her husband Butch and Christine Segura and her husband Patrick all of New Iberia; her sister, Juanita Putnam and her husband Harry of North Carolina; fourteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony “Tony” Gonzales; her mother, Margaret “Granny” Ganzales and her adoptive parents, Elsie and Kenneth Harrick.
Pallbearers will be Evans Comeaux, Ji Theriot, Cody Theriot, Anthony Rogers, Gage Dupuy, Keygan Luquette, Miles Theriot and Randy Maldanado.
