Abbeville – A Funeral Service for Mr. Jack Meyer North, Sr., 71, will be held at 3:00PM on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church with Fr. Louis Richard officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Lafayette.
Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Abbeville on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 from 5:00PM until 9:00PM with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00PM. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 from 11:00AM until the time of the services.
A resident of Abbeville, Mr. Jack died at 8:05PM surrounded by his family at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette on Saturday, March 26, 2016. He was born in New Orleans and was raised in Lafayette. He graduated from Lafayette High School in 1962 and then attended University of Southwestern Louisiana. He had a long successful career in the oil industry. Jack was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved to cook and get together with friends. He was such a generous man and well loved by so many. Jack lived life to the fullest with very little regret. He was a loving husband and devoted father. He will be dearly missed by so many people, especially his family.
Mr. Jack is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Nancy Jett North of Abbeville; two sons, Jack M. North, Jr. of Houston and John North and his fiancé’ Brandi Grimm of Lafayette; a daughter, Jennifer North Bryan and her husband Sean of Alexandria; two grandchildren, Patrick Bryan and Sydney Bryan; two soon to be grandchildren, Feliciana Grimm and Veronica Grimm; very special nieces, Elizabeth Guillory and Rachael Zammer of Haverford, PA; two “adopted” grandchildren, Noah Boone and Chloe Boone; two sisters in law, Jon Jett and Alice North; nieces and nephews, Clair Ramsay, Jett Sheehy, Todd Barnett, Jon Barnett, Donna Barron, Mike North and Laura Lavespere; and a host of great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Lee North and Adalie Meyer North; a brother, Don North; his mother in law, Clara F. Jett; a sister in law, Betty Jett Sunday; and a brother in law, C. W. Sunday.
Serving as pallbearers will be Scott Bass, Noah Boone, Patrick Bryan, Peter Kent, Robert Perkins, Ken Porche, Benjie Rougeou, and Randall Ricketts.
The family wants to thank old and new friends for their love and support.
