Amenthe "Mom Bert" T. Bertrand

Erath- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Amenthe Bertrand, 90, on April 6, 2016 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Father Bill Melancon officiating.  Interment will follow at Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery in Delcambre.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary at 7:00 PM.  The visitation will continue on April 6, 2016 from 8:00AM until the time of Services at 11:00AM.

A native and resident of Erath, Ms. Bertrand passed away on Sunday, April 3,2016 at the Heart Hospital of Lafayette.

Amenthe Bertrand also known as “Grandma Bert” enjoyed cooking and working in her beautiful yard but her passion was being with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.  Amenthe was a past employee of Menards Restaurant  and Morris Lahasky Nursing Home of Erath.

Left to cherish Amenthe’s memories  are her three daughters, Velta Bourque and husband Raymond, Lilly Fredrick and her husband Michael , and Lucille Colomb; her grandchildren , Malcom Bourque, Aaron Bourque, Darryl  Choate, Kenneth Faulk, Clint Faulk, J.R. Faulk, Julie Faulk, Edie Morgan,  and Tara Faulk; her great-grandchildren Sadie Choate, Coy Choate, Jesse Choate, Kate Choate, Dylan Bourque, Taylor Bourque, Jackson Bourque, Tyler Bourque, Parker Bourque, Aiden Bourque, Trey Campbell, Colby Faulk, Justin Morgan, Jasmine Morgan, Joshua Faulk, Kaylee Faulk, Laci Lynn Faulk, Max Faulk, Payton Faulk, Jacob Faulk, Ethan Faulk, Alivia Faulk, Braeden Arabie, Kaylee Mullins and two great-great grandchildren Kynslie Faulk and Kyler Romero.

Amenthe was preceded in death by her parents Odey and Eva Moreau Touchet , her husband, Adam Bertrand, her son-in-law John Colomb, James Ray Faulk, Darryl Choate Sr., and numerous brothers and sisters.

Upholding the honor as pallbearers will be Malcom Bourque, Aaron Bourque, Darryl Choate, Kenneth Faulk, Clint Faulk, and J.R. Faulk.

Honorary Pallbearers will be her great-grandsons; Trey Campbell, Colby Faulk, Justin Morgan, Joshua Faulk, Jacob Faulk, Coy Choate, Jesse Choate, Dylan Bourque, Tyler Bourque and Parker Bourque.

Amenthe better  known as Grandma Bert will be deeply  missed by all who knew her and loved her.  Greatly blessed are those who had the opportunity to be in her life.

The family would like to thank all those who through the many years contributed to Amenthe’s life in whatever means.

The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Roland Lahasky who played a vital part in our mothers medical needs but most importantly for that special interest he had in allowing her to share so many stories about her years as a cook and other life events that she had experienced.  Thanks also goes to Abbeville General Hospital  E.R. and 3rd floor staff, Heart Hospital of Lafayette Staff, Dr. Vernon Valentino and Dr Brad Broussard.

Independent to the end, Amenthe did it her way and left a legacy of love, hard work and generosity for all to imitate- Our mother, our role model- until we meet again, Mommy Rest in Peace as you are now a Master Gardener in Our Lords field of flowers. Always in our hearts with eternal love.
