Irene Frilot Broussard

New Iberia- Funeral services will be held for  Mrs. Irene Frilot Broussard, age 91, on Monday, April 11, 2016 at  11:30AM at David Funeral Chapel of New Iberia with Father Ed Degeyter to serve as the Celebrant.  Interment will follow at Holy Family Mausoleum.

Visitation will begin on Monday, April 11, 2016 at 8:00AM until 11:15AM with a recitation of the Rosary at 9:00AM.

A native of Iberia Parish and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Broussard passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 1:55PM at a local nursing facility).

Mrs. Broussard enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking, and canning. As a mother and homemaker she found great joy in taking care of her family.

She is survived by three Daughters, Mary Bertha Rochon of New Iberia, Sylvia Rochon and husband Ralph of Carencro, Theresa Lalande and husband Don of New Iberia; one Son, Ronald Broussard and wife Shelia of New Iberia; seven Grandchildren, Wendy Cabrera and husband Joe, Brian Lalande and wife Cari,  Sean Lalande and wife Marsha, Cindy Goolsby and husband Mike, Wendell Rochon and wife Alissa, Buttins Broussard and husband Richey, and Sunday Landry and husband Charlie; twelve Great Grandchildren, Ryan Olivier and wife Linsay, Matt, Mia, Alison, Emily, Angel, Ivy, Juliet, Ashlyn, J.J., Sevin, Jayce; and one Great Great Grand Child, Baily Olivier.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years Alpha Broussard Jr.; Mother, Hortense Cook; Father, Jerome Frilot; two Sons-in-law Larry Smith and Clyde Rochon; Sister, Felicienne Nelson and her husband Alfred Nelson Sr.; three Brothers, June Boutte, Raymond Nelson, Ray Nelson; Nephew, Alfred Nelson Jr., three Nieces, Mary Ann Levy, Helen Fontenot, Juanita Boutte; and her loving Step Parents, Freddie Nelson and Felicia Nelson.

Upholding the honor of Pallbearers are Ralph Rochon, Ryan Olivier, Joe Cabrera, Ronald Broussard, Sean Lalande, and Brian Lalande.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Don Lalande, Felton Nelson, Donald Boyance, and A.J. Boutte.

Thanks to Consolata Nursing Home and the staff for all the care they gave her. A special thanks to Joyce Boyance, Katherine Decuir, Georgia Ann Nelson and Celeste Sigue her special nieces who always visited and gave her love. Also thanks to Eddie Decuir. We would like to thank Carolyn Guy for all the love and care she gave to our Mother and made her life easier and happy.
