Evenette Broussard Romero

Coteau – Funeral services will be conducted for Evenette “Sis” Broussard Romero, 86, on Monday, April 18, 2016, at 3:00 PM in the David Funeral Home Chapel with Father Ed Degeyter officiating. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Monday, April 18, 2016, from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home at 1:00 PM.

A native of Weeks Island and a resident of Coteau, Mrs. Romero passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2016, at 6:10 PM in a New Iberia hospital.

She was an employee of the Iberia Parish School Board for many years. She was an inductee in the Softball Hall of Fame, a member of the Ladies Altar Society, loved going to the casino, cooking and especially being with her family.

She is survived by her husband of sixty-nine years, Dorsey J. Romero, Sr. of Coteau; her sons, Dorsey J. Romero, Jr. and his wife Yvonne of St. Martinville, Glen P. Romero and his wife Vickie of Cade, Perry “Blue” Romero and his wife Sandra and Keith A. Romero and his wife Jody all of Coteau; her sister, Alita D. Cheatham of Horn Lake, MS; her sister-in-law, Dale G. Broussard of Lydia; her grandchildren, Luke Romero, Troy Romero, Jude Romero, Bambi Diaz, Casey Romero, Tomica Hebert, Tammy Lejeune, Erica Bonin, Eric  Romero and Lane Romero and fourteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Leon Broussard; her mother, Orela Mayard Broussard; her son, Carol Jude Romero; her aunt, Adelaide Mayard Dronet and her brothers, John Chester Broussard, Joseph Dudley Broussard and Manuel Broussard.

Pallbearers will be Dorsey J. Romero, Jr., Glen P. Romero, Perry “Blue” Romero, Keith A. Romero, Luke Romero, Lane Romero, Jude Romero and Eric Romero.

All of her great grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
