Marie "Tootie Bug" Miles

New Iberia – Funeral services will be conducted for Marie “Tootie Bug” Betar Miles, 84, on Monday, May 2, 2016, at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with Msgr. Richard Greene officiating. Burial will follow in Beau Pre Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Visitation will be on Sunday, May 1, 2016, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and resume on Monday, May 2, 2016, at 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Sunday at 7:00 PM.

A native and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Miles passed away on Friday, April 29, 2016, at 10:29 AM in a New Iberia hospital.

She was a P. E. Teacher and high school volleyball and basketball coach. She was a devout Catholic and was a Catechism Teacher for many years at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She enjoyed spending time with her husband, children and all of her grandchildren and great-grand children.

Tootie Bug is survived by her husband of 57 years Wilbur Miles; daughters, Rene e M. Indest and husband Robert “Joey” of Baton Rouge, Jaynellen M. Tannery of Allen, TX; brother, Johnny Betar of New Iberia; grandchildren; Elizabeth Indest of Baton Rouge, Rebecca Indest of Baton Rouge, Corine Miles of Tulsa, OK, Krista R. Fournerat and husband Lane of Lafayette, Claire Tannery of Allen, TX., Travis Tanner of Allen, TX; great grandchildren, Amelia Fournerat of Lafayette, Jacques Fournerat of Lafayette and Brendon English of Tulsa, OK.

Serving as pallbearers are Joey Indest, Lane Fournerat, Raymond Elias, Anthony Ackal, Stuart Smith and Travis Tannery.

Serving as honorary pallbearers are Alfred Ackal and Sonny Waguespack.

She is preceded in death by parents George Betar and Edna Jones Betar, Son; Jude T. Miles and brother, George “Bobby” Betar.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of her friends and family who provided support and prayers during Tootie Bug’s illness.
