Joseph "Joe" Wallis, Sr.

Coteau—Funeral services will be held for Mr. Joseph “Joe” Wallis, Sr, age 75, on Friday, May 6, 2016 at 8:00 PM at David Funeral Home Chapel with Fr. Brian Harrington officiating.

Visitation will be at David Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, May 6, 2016 at 12:00 PM with a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00PM.

“Joe” passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2016 at 4:16 PM at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette, LA.

Joseph was born in Biloxi, MS on July 24, 1940 to George Walter Wallis, Sr and Anna Lee Langlinais. He made is roots at the age of 18, working in the oil field, building his own company doing contract labor then retiring from Martin Salt Company as a shaft foreman for 20 plus years. He truly enjoyed fishing, trolling and hunting.

Joseph was a loving husband, father, grand-great father, uncle, brother and all around great man. He was loved by many. Left to cherish Joseph memory is his wife of 44 years Goldie Bourque Wallis of New Iberia, five children; Chad Wallis, Sr and wife Wendy of Youngsville, Cindy Wallis Hilton and husband David of Youngsville, Wendy Wallis Romero and husband Toby of New Iberia, Vicky Wallis, Joseph Wallis, Jr and his fiancé Jessica Thompson of Broussard, 19 grand children, 15 great grandchildren 2 of which have yet to be born. Six sisters Patricia Cobb and husband Kenny of New Iberia, Charolette Joplin and husband John of Florida, Georgia Clark of Mississippi, Donna Wallis of California, Sharon Touchet and husband Wayne of Mississippi, Linda Balias of Florida and five brothers, Kenny Wallis, Sr and wife Luz, George Wallis, Jr and wife Sharon of Mississippi, Robert Wallis and wife Audrey of Mississippi, Troy Wallis and wife Barbara of Alabama, Ricky Wallis and fiancé Tina of Crowley and countless nieces and nephews.

Joseph is preceded in death by his grandson David (Boobie) Hilton, Jr, his parents Mr. and Mrs. George Wallis, Sr, mother and father-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Victorian Bourque, brother-n-laws David Bourque, Randy Bourque Walter Clark and sister-in-laws Debra Collins, niece; Barbara Dean Moree and great nephew; Monty Wallis.
