Jeanerette- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Dean J. Derouen Sr., age 49, on Wednesday May 11, 2016 at 10:00am at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Jody Simoneaux to serve as the Celebrant. Reading from scripture will be Raquel Landry and Corliss Ramirez. Place of Burial will be at St John the Evangelist Cemetery.
Visitation will begin on Tuesday May 10, 2016 at 4:00pm and conclude at 10:00pm with a recitation of the rosary at 6:00pm. Visitation will resume the next morning, Wednesday May 11, from 8:00am until funeral time.
A native and resident of New Iberia and former resident of Jeanerette, Mr. Derouen passed away on Friday May 6, 2016 at a New Iberia Hospital.
Deano was a hard working Welder who enjoyed leading a simple life. He was employed with Razorhead Boats and in his free time he enjoyed hunting and fishing, cooking, riding in his boat, and passing a good time with his friends and family. He will truly be missed by all that knew him.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 27 years, Dana Guyote Derouen of New Iberia; mother, Audrey Buteau Derouen and companion Eddie Saucier of Jeanerette; children, Erica Sandifer and husband Mickey of Broussard, Lindsey Derouen and Dean “D.J.” Derouen Jr. both of New Iberia; grandchildren, Makenzie and Kamryn Sandifer both of Broussard, Jaylon Sweat of Iberia Parish, Courlyn Derouen of Iberia Parish; and three brothers, Kim Derouen and wife Nelly of Jeanerette, Wayne Derouen and wife Sheri of New Iberia, and Roy Derouen Jr. of Jeanerette.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Derouen Sr. and his Maternal and Paternal Grandparents.
Upholding the honor of Pallbearers are Mickey Sandifer, Charles Guyote, Timothy Landry, Kirt Landry, Jason Derouen, Kim Derouen, and Roy Derouen Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dean “D.J.” Derouen Jr., Trey Guyote, Wayne Derouen, Lindsey Derouen, and Zack Guyote.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Acadian Ambulance and Iberia Medical Center and to Kirk and Timothy Landry for their valiant efforts in trying to save Mr. Dean’s life.
