Funeral services will be conducted for Mr. Carroll James Blanchard 84 on Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at 2:00 PM at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Fr Charles Langlois as celebrant. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 17, 2016, from 10:00 AM until 9:00 PM and resume on Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at 9:00 AM until 1:30 PM. A rosary will be recited in the funeral home on Tuesday at 6:30 PM. Mr. Blanchard passed away peacefully at a local hospital surrounded by his family. Mr. Blanchard was the owner of C & B Auto Body Shop for 39 years. His service to his customers was always impeccable. He believed in doing his absolute best and then a little extra. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World and the IGO of the Teche. Mr. Blanchard was a veteran of the Korean conflict having served in the U. S. Army and also served in the Louisiana National Guard. He loved gardening, especially growing corn and vegetables. He had a green thumb for sure. He is survived by his daughter Aggie Smith and her husband Clay; grandchildren, Steven Smith, Megan Smith, Samantha Smith of New Iberia and one great grandson, Clay Michael Smith; sisters Beverly (Marie) Dugas of St. Martinville, and Grace Heurtevant and her husband Charles of Baton Rouge LA; "His other daughter" Lou Melancon and her husband, Nathan and children, Nathan Jr, and Mandy M. Laviolette and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Denise Broussard Blanchard; his parents, Collins and Thelma Vincent Blanchard; an infant brother; grandchildren, Michael and Kathryn Smith and brother-in-law, Rudolph Dugas. Pallbearers will be Steven Smith, José Sosa, Edwin Blanchard, Justin Boudoin, Steven Boudoin, and Paul Heurtevant. Honorary pallbearers will be Clay Smith, Tom Young, and Errol Cook.
