New Iberia—A mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for James Jay Trimble, age 83, at 4:00 pm on Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Richard Greene officiating. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery near Loreauville.
Visitation will be at David’s Funeral Home, 1101 Trotter Street, New Iberia from 10:00 AM until the time of service. A rosary will be recited at 2:00 pm.
A native of Jeanerette and longtime resident of New Iberia, Mr. Trimble died on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at his residence with his family at his side.
Jay was a veteran having served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He retired after 35 years of being employed by Cleco as a meter tester. He was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed duck hunting and fishing. He was skilled wood carver, especially of decorative duck decoys. He enjoyed making his own fishing lures.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, the former Elaine Landry, his children, Julie Badeaux and husband Jody Badeaux of Loreauville; Gaye Coquat and husband Curtis Coquat of New Iberia; Denise East and husband Orrin East of Loreauville; and Michael Trimble and wife, Elizabeth Trimble of Nashville, Tennessee. He is also survived by his sister Ann Muncy and husband Don Muncy; eight grandchildren, Sarah Badeaux Landry, Courtney Badeaux Dugas, Hannah Coquat, Katie Coquat, Kyle East, Devin East, Gavin Trimble and Skylar Trimble; and four great grandchildren, Ben Waldmann, Reece Dugas, Thomas Landry and John Luke Dugas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawless and Edith Trimble, and his brother, Peter Abel Trimble.
Pallbearers will be Jody Badeaux, Curtis Coquat, Orrin East, Kyle East, Michael Trimble and Jason Landry.
Honoray pallbearers will be Gabriel Fortier, Carol Gravois, Irving Judice, Jude Dugas and Gavin Trimble.
His family is grateful to his caregivers, Esseny Welcome, Rene Rideaux, Kalie Suire, Rhea Francois and Gayle Johnson and the nurses and staff of Bridgeway Hospice for their kindness and excellent care
