New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mable Landry Gachassin, 92, on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at 10:00AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Father Mark Derise to serve as the Celebrant. Interment will follow at Holy Family Mausoleum.
Visitation will begin on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at 11:00AM until 9:00PM with a recitation of the Rosary at 7:00PM. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 from 8:00AM until service time.
A native of Port Arthur and resident of New Iberia, Mable Landry Gachassin passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 08:15AM at her son’s residence.
She was a catechism teacher for over 40 years at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. An innate nurturer and homemaker, she enjoyed quilting, cooking, sewing, gardening and upholstering for both family and friends.
She is survived by her son, James Ricky Gachassin, Sr. and wife Mary Ann Verret, New Iberia; sister, Lorraine Landry Poirrier and husband Francis, New Iberia; aunt, Loria Romero Demarcy, Abbeville; sister-in-law, Crystal Bell Trahan Landry, New Iberia; grandchildren, Tommy Michael Broussard, Jr., Lafayette, James Ricky Gachassin, Jr. and wife Sherry, Maurice, Nola Mae Gachassin Frederick and husband Bryan, Breaux Bridge; step-grandchildren, Ricky Verret and wife Linda, New Iberia, Fran Romero McCuen and husband David, New Iberia, Joseph Romero, New Iberia, Robert Labit and wife Susie, Modesto, CA, Shannon Labit, New Iberia and 14 Great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Voorhies Gachassin; father, Elie Landry; mother, Laura Romero Landry; Brother, Roy Landry; daughter, Judy Ann Broussard and step-grandchild, Byron Labit.
Upholding the honor of Pallbearers are Cain Watson, Justice Watson, Tyler Gachassin, Mike Broussard, Jeremy Randazzo and David McCuen. Honorary Pallbearers will be James Gachassin, Jr., Francis Poirrier, Bryan Frederick and Warren Picard.
The family would like to thank; Mary Ann Gachassin, who continually went above and beyond, as did Lorraine and Francis Poirrier, Nola Frederick, Fran McCuen, Heart of Hospice, Dr. Gulotta and Dr. Mata and staff for their care and compassion.
