A native of Erath and a resident of Abbeville Mrs. Shirley died at 6:15PM on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Lafayette General Medical Center. The gates of heaven have opened for a beautiful angel. A loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and god mother, Shirley was a beautiful soul who always
prayed the rosary and who was a strong believer in the power of prayer. Shirley was a
member of many prayer groups in Abbeville over the years. She spent many days cooking
for her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchild,
which she spoiled endlessly. She enjoyed Cajun Dancing and speaking French. Shirley was also known as "the homemade bread pudding, topped with hot buttered rum sauce master." She worked in many well-known restaurants for nearly 30 years, such as Benefield's Restaurant, Bertrand’s Restaurant, and Dupuy's Oyster Shop before retiring to become an active grandmother. She was a devout soldier of Christ and lived her life constantly giving and always thinking of others. Her gift to us was
unwavering faith and incredible kindness. Her contributions to her family and friends
and to our community will be forever cherished.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Edward J. Hebert of Abbeville; a son, Brenton Hebert of Erath; three daughters, Donna LeBlanc and her fiancé Chris Broussard of Erath, Sharon Belaire and her husband Scott of Abbeville, and Kimberly Potier and her husband David of Maurice; two brothers, Joseph “Smokey” Lange and Glenn Lange; four sisters, Geraldine “Jerrie” Lange, Ruby Buchanan, Linda Thibodeaux, and Sally Cormier; seven grandchildren, Tiffany LeBlanc Meaux and her husband Erik, Mark LeBlanc, Jr., Elmo “E.J.” LeBlanc, Eric Hebert, Austin Belaire, Ashton Belaire, and Isabella Potier; and one great grandchild, Madeline Meaux.
