Daniel James Nunez

Abbeville – A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Daniel James Nunez, 81, will be held at 10:00AM on Friday, June 3, 2016 at St. Theresa Catholic Church with Fr. Greg Cormier officiating.  Interment will follow at St. Paul Cemetery.

Visitation will be at David Funeral Home of Abbeville on Thursday, June 2, 2016 from 4:00PM until 8:00PM with a recitation of the rosary at 6:00PM.  Visitation will resume on Friday, June 3, 2016 from 8:00AM until the time of the service.

A native of Erath and a resident of Abbeville Mr. Nunez died at his residence on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 9:49AM.  Mr. Daniel proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.  He was a retired boat captain; a commercial pilot; an avid runner; a successful cattle farmer; and loved horses.  Mr. Nunez was also a member of Vermilion Honor Guard; Kaplan American Legion Post 271; a former member of The Cattlemen Association; and a former member of the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Jo Moss Nunez of Abbeville; three daughters, Vanessa Nunez of New Orleans, Angela Nunez Gallagher of Morgan City, and Jodi Nunez Hulin and her husband Paul of Maurice; five grandchildren, Kelly Mergist Jordan and her husband Jameson, Joshua Ditch and his wife Jayde, Megan Guidry Bowden and her husband Bradley, Madison Baugher, and Jacques Hulin; and one great grandchild, Kameron Jordan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Felician and Esmae Delcambre Nunez; and a brother, Warren Nunez.

Serving as pallbearers will be Kent Nunez, Juan Nunez, Paul Hulin, Jacques Hulin, Jameson Jordan, and Ronnie Cortese.
