A native and resident of New Iberia, "Lonny" as everyone knew him, passed away on Friday, June 3, 2016 at 3:16PM at a Houston, TX hospital.

In high school Lonny loved sports, he played football and ran track. He was a gifted athlete and excelled in his event, the 880 Meter Run, often finishing in less than two minutes. Throughout his life Mr. Anderson spent his mornings running or walking to stay in shape. He enjoyed watching the Olympics on television, and to say he was a fan of LSU football would be an understatement.  Lonny was an avid poker player and loved going to the casinos. He was an independent and simple man, but immensely enjoyed the time he spent with his family, especially nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his three brothers, Harry Anderson Sr. and companion Liz Buteau of New Iberia, James "Jimmy" Lamar Anderson Jr. and wife Patricia of New Iberia, and Robert "Bob" Anderson and wife Judy of  Georgetown, KY; eight nieces and nephews, Leslie Wimberley of Lafayette, Eric Anderson of New Iberia, Inger Gauthier and husband Darren of Duson, James Lamar Anderson, III of Lake Charles, Sarah Riggs and husband Kevin of New Iberia, Robert Anderson and wife Tuesday of KY, Karen Ouellette and husband David of Fredericksburg, VA, and Christine Hopper and husband Ryder of Lexington, KY; nine great nieces and nephews; and one great great nephew.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Lamar Anderson, Sr.; mother, Dorothy Hall Anderson; and one nephew, Harry Anderson, Jr.

Upholding the honor of Pallbearers will be family and friends.

The family would like to thank Dr. Garcia Menero, Heather Schexneider and nurses at MD Anderson for the loving care given to their brother.
