Mary Charpentier

Jeanerette – Funeral services will be conducted for Mary Louviere Charpentier, 84, on Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at 10:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Jody Simoneaux officiating. Burial will follow in St. John Mausoleum.

Visitation will be on Monday, June 13, 2016, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and resume on Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at 8:00 AM until 9:45 AM. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Monday at 6:00 PM.

A native of Franklin and a resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Charpentier passed away on Friday, June 10, 2016, at 9:30 AM at Belle Teche Nursing Home in New Iberia.

Mary was a stay-at-home mother and homemaker. Spending time with her family on Sunday afternoons was one of her biggest passions. She also had a love for cooking and trying new recipes. She loved flowers and tending to her flower beds in her yard. She was a self taught quilter and sewed handmade quilts for all of her grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling and was able to take several trips after her children were grown. Mary was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and a devoted member of the Legion of Mary and rosary group.

She is survived by her sons, David Charpentier and his wife Denise of New Iberia and Barry Charpentier and his wife Angie of Youngsville; her daughters, Jolene Holcombe of Berwick, Dana Tardiff and her husband Rickey of Opelousas, Susan Costa of Patterson, Dawn Broussard and her husband Jimmy, Nisa Smith and her husband Mark and Mary Glaubrecht and her husband Richard all of Jeanerette; her brothers, Melvin Louviere of Irving, TX and Burney Louviere of Franklin; her sister, Loretta Migues of Jeanerette; sixteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Joseph Charpentier; her father, Ambrose Louviere; her mother, Agnes Landry Louviere; her sister, Lois Breaux; her brothers, Arthur Louviere, Kearney Louviere, Charles Louviere and Ray Louviere, Sr. and her son-in-law, Antonio Costa.

Pallbearers will be Todd Charpentier, John Charpentier, Nicholas Tardiff, Joshua Tardiff, Hunter Tardiff and Ryan Broussard.

Honorary pallbearers will be Christopher Costa, Andrew Smith, Dylan Charpentier and T. J. Holcombe.

The family would like to thank the staff of Belle Teche Nursing Home, especially Patricia, Shateela, Carleisha and Hospice of Acadiana for all their loving care for our mother.
