Erath- A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Bernard “Ban” Delahoussaye 91, will be held
2:00PM on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Father
Bill Melancon officiating. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Lourdes Mausoleum.
Visitation will be at David Funeral Home of Erath on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 from 1:00 PM
until 9:00PM with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00PM. Visitation will resume on
Wednesday, June 15, 2016 from 8:00AM until the time of services. Reading for the funeral
mass will be Cheryl Delahoussaye and Ned Goutierrez,Jr. and the gift bearers will be
Keshia Etheridge and Jenni Guidry.
A native and resident of Erath, Mr. Bernard passed away peacefully at his residence
surrounded by his family. From a young age the Cajun Culture and serving his country ran
deep in his veins. Ban enlisted in the Army and served this great nation during WWII as
a Sergeant. Mr. Delahoussaye worked for Kerr McGee as a supervisor and retired with the
company in 1981. He was a member of the American Legion Post 279 where he honored many
fallen comrades on the firing squad. His hobbies were dancing, traveling, and spending
time with friends, but his passion in life was his family, children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Mrs. Vergie T. Delahoussaye, his son Terry
Delahoussaye and his wife Cheryl of Erath, daughter Charlotte Goutierrez and husband Ned
of Erath, and daughter Roslyn Ward and her husband Jimmy also of Erath; two brothers,
Roy Delahoussaye and Autrey Delahoussaye; two sisters, Beatrice Duhon and Earline
Dore’;grandchildren, Eddie Goutierrez, Danny Delahoussaye, Keshia Etheridge, Jenni
Guidry, Ryan Bares, Chip Goutierrez and 16 great-grandchildren with a special niece,
Verna Trahan.
He was preceded In death by his father, Clomere Delahoussaye, his mother Lucy Bourque,
sisters Nell Michaud, Lucille Richard, and Lucilia “Blondie” Delahoussaye, and a
grandchild Garrett Goutierrez.
Upholding the honor as pallbearers are Sadler Delahoussaye, Ethan Goutierrez, Eddie
Goutierrez, Chip Goutierrez, Chris Etheridge, Ryan Bares, Rodney Guidry, and Danny
Delahoussaye.
A special thanks to Dr. Ronald Lahasky, Acadian Home Health, Acadian Hospice, Abbeville
General staff and ICU nurses.
