Mrs. Jolet, a native of Adeline and long-time resident of Weeks Island, passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2016, at 12:04 p.m. at her residence in Lydia.

Mrs. Jolet worked for Morton Chemical Company and LeBlanc and Broussard Ford City.  In the 1960s, she operated a kindergarten on Weeks Island, doing what she loved – teaching and being with little children.  She was very active in the church, teaching catechism, singing in the choir, helping create the Nativity scenes and anywhere else there was a need.  She enjoyed cooking, vacationing and taking care of her family.

Mrs. Jolet is survived by her two daughters Bronwyn Jolet of Lydia and Ingrid Jolet of Lafayette; grandson, Stefan Jolet of Lafayette; great grandson Alex Jolet and great granddaughter Payton Aucoin of Lafayette, numerous nieces and nephews and her sister-in-law, Eloise J. Verret.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, A. J. Jolet, Jr.; her parents, Luke and Philomene Mendoza Verret;  sisters, Clara V. Goula, Jeanne V. Haydel, Cecile V. Goula, Rena Mae Verret; brothers, Wilson J. Verret, Howard A. Verret, Rene N. Verret; and nephew, Wendell L. Verret.

Serving as pallbearers are Stefan Jolet, Alex Jolet, Kenneth Verret and Gary Palmer.

Honorary pallbearer will be Richard Goula.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Michael Alvarez, Dr. Darvin Hales and Dr. Gerard Sigue for their care and support over the years.  We also want to thank the staff of Bridgeway Hospice, especially her nurses, Erin Viator, Elizabeth Wentz and Emily Stelly, and her aide, Rhea Francois.  And extra special thanks need to be given to Mama’s caregivers, Ruthine Daniel and Tina Derise, for all their loving care these last couple of months.
