Norma "Sis" Bazer

New Iberia – A gathering of family and friends for Mrs. Norma “Sis” Mestayer Bazer will be held at David Funeral Home 1101 Trotter St. New Iberia, LA on Thursday, June 30, 2016, from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM followed by a Memorial Service in the funeral home chapel with Fr. Alexander Albert officiating at 6:00 PM. Inurnment will be at a later date.

Mrs. Bazer requested her body be donated to Tulane University Health Science Center.

A native of Loreauville and a resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Bazer passed away on Monday morning, June 27, 2016, at Consolata Nursing Home in New Iberia.

Sis loved sharing the fond memories of her younger years, her many camping trips with her family at Lake Ouachita, Arkansas and winning the Ladies Annual Golf Tournament one year at Sugar Oaks Country Club. She was an excellent dancer, wonderful homemaker, and a loving attentive mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her wit, zest for life and her spunky attitude made it great fun to be in her company. Sis will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her children, Rodney J. Bazer and his wife Eleanor of Lafayette, Kenneth J. Bazer and his wife Vicki, W. D. “Butch” Bazer, III and Myrna Ann Bazer all of New Iberia; her grandchildren, Angela B. Michalek, Andrea B. Wahlen, Alicia B. Bourgeois, Amanda B. Hadaway, Douglas M. Bazer, Renee Bazer, Michael Bazer and Kevin Walker; her great grandchildren, Brock, Brant and Spencer Michalek, Bryce and Cohen Wahlen, Kyle and Kolby Bourgeois, Halle Hadaway and Jack Walker; her sister, Merle Mestayer Williams of Rogers, Arkansas and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband W. D. Bazer, Jr.; her parents, Raoul Mestayer, Sr. and Norma Neuville Mestayer; her brothers, Donald Mestayer, Forbus Mestayer, Carroll Mestayer, Caron Mestayer, Raoul “Ray” Mestayer, Jr. and her sisters, Donna Faye Mestayer Lanza, Sharon Mestayer Luccous, Audrey Mestayer Labry, Muriel Mestayer and Lucille Mestayer.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials to the charity of their choice.

The family would like to thank the Staff at Consolata Nursing Home for the care provided to their mother.
