Ramona Chauvin Wattigny

New Iberia – Funeral services will be held for Mrs. Ramona Chauvin Wattigny, age 87, on Monday, July 4, 2016 at 2:00PM in the David Funeral Home Chapel with Father Brian Harrington as the Celebrant.

Interment will follow at the Nativity of Our Lady Mausoleum, 130 Richelieu Circle, New Iberia.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 4, 2016 from 10:00AM until 1:45PM at David Funeral Home of New Iberia.

A lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Wattigny, peacefully passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at 8:26AM at a local nursing facility.

Having attained her Master’s degree, Mrs. Wattigny began her career with the United States Department of Agriculture as their Chief Clerk for over 26 years.  Mrs. Wattigny then transitioned into and retired from the Iberia Parish Assessor’s Office after 18 dedicated years.  Even after retirement, Mrs. Wattigny never was one to stay idle long, she then began working part-time and as needed at the Iberia Parish Clerk of Courts office, until her health no longer allowed.

Mrs. Wattigny is survived by a host of loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her special needs daughter, Ann Margaret Wattigny; her husband, Mr. August F. Wattigny; father, Joseph N. Chauvin, Sr.; mother, Suzanne Salles Chauvin; sisters, Myrtle Sandoz, Anna Lee Lee, Margaret Lapeyrouse and brother, Joseph N. Chauvin, Jr.

Upholding the Honor of Pallbearers for Mrs. Wattigny will be family and friends.

In honor of the long known and final wishes of Mrs. Wattigny, she respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers or donations, individuals perform random acts of kindness for the disabled, elderly, or infirm .
