Shannon Michael Labit

New Iberia- Funeral Services will be held for Shannon Michael Labit, age 40, on Friday, July 8, 2016 at  3:00PM at David Funeral Home Chapel of New Iberia with Rev. Roland Fontenot to serve as the Celebrant.  Interment will follow at Broussard Cemetery.

Visitation will begin on Friday, July 8, 2016 from 9:00AM until the time of service.

A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Shannon died on Sunday, July 3, 2016 at 12:48am at a local hospital.

Shannon enjoyed drawing and music. He was recently learning to play the guitar. Riding and fixing up motorcycles and dirt bikes was just a few of his hobbies along with fishing. Often while socializing with his family and friends he would preach and minister to everyone. Shannon enjoyed helping people and would give the shirt off his back to help a friend in need.

He is survived by his Mother, Mary Ann Gachassin and husband Ricky of New Iberia; Half Brother, Ricky Raymond Verret and wife Linda of New Iberia; Half Sister, Fran McCuen and husband David of New Iberia; Half Brother, Joseph Romero of New Iberia; Brother, Robert Labit and wife Susan of Modesto, CA; Step-brother, James Gachassin Jr. and wife Sherry of Maurice; Step-sister, Nola Frederick and husband Brian of Breaux Bridge; and Numerous Nieces and Nephews.

He was preceded in death by his Father, Hillis Labit; Brother, Byron Paul Labit; Maternal Grandparents, Albert Verret and Edmae Sonnier; Paternal Grandparents, Ellis Labit and Madena Legnon.

Upholding the honor of Pallbearers are Robert Labit, Jeremy Randazzo, Wade Delahoussaye, Rocky Boutte, Warren Picard, and James Gachassin, Jr.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Ricky Gachassin, David McCuen, Larry Verret, Ricky Verret, Joseph Romero, and J.C. Delahoussaye.
