New Iberia- Funeral Services will be held for Mrs. Dorothy Miller Savoy, age 103, on Friday, August 19, 2016 at 10:00AM at David Funeral Chapel of New Iberia with Rev. Richard Humphries of Asbury United Methodist Church to serve as the Celebrant. Interment will follow at Greenwood Memorial Park in Pineville, La.
Visitation will begin on Friday, August 19, 2016 at 8:00AM and conclude at 9:45AM, before the service begins.
A native of Leslie, Arkansas and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Savoy passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at 1:07PM at her residence.
Mrs. Savoy was a
lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church of Alexandria where she resided most of her life. She was also a member of the National Society of the D.A.R., Loyalty Chapter in Alexandria, the Jamestown Society, the Magna Charta Dames, and the Hereditary Register of the United States. Her hobbies included knitting, reading, and fishing. One of her most enjoyable things in life was entertaining her grandchildren with stories of when she was young and growing up.
She is survived by her daughter, Elisabeth Savoy Burke and husband Perry of Loreauville, LA; Grandchildren, Charles E. Sanders, Jr. and wife Lisa of Tampa, FL, Randall P. Sanders of Alexandria, LA, Richard Sanders and wife Julie of Pineville, LA, Robert Burke, Jr. and wife Michele of Loreauville, LA, Russell Sanders and wife Teal of Arlington, VA, and Scott Burke and wife Jennifer of New Iberia, LA; 12 Great Grandchildren; 7 Great-Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her Husband, Earl Oswald Savoy; Father, Harry Paul Miller; Mother, Gussie Coffman Miller; Daughter, Dorothy Savoy Sanders; and one Great Grandson, Christopher Lee Sanders.
Upholding the honor of Pallbearers are Robert Burke, Jr., Scott Burke, Robert "Trey" Burke, III, Tyler Burke, Charles Sanders, Jr., Richard Sanders, and Evan Sanders. Honorary Pallbearers will be Randall Sanders, Russell Sanders, Perry Burke, and Gene Sanders.
The family would like to thank
St. Joseph Hospice, Phil Reese and Janet Darby for the care and compassion given to Mrs. Savoy.
