Lenis Gabriel Landry

Lafayette – A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Lenis Gabriel Landry, 91, will be held at 1:00PM on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Michael Delcambre officiating. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Mausoleum.

Visitation will be at David Funeral Home of Lafayette on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 from 12:00PM until 9:00PM with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00PM. Visitation will resume on Thursday, September 29, 2016 from 8:00AM until the time of the services.

A native of Broussard and a resident of Lafayette, Mr. Landry died at 12:49AM on Monday, September 26, 2016 at Lafayette General Medical Center. Mr. Landry proudly served his country during World War II. He worked for Billeaud Plantation for over 30 years before retiring and going to work at Guidry Hardware where he retired again after 10 years. He was known for his love for baseball which he coached and umpired for a number of years; his enjoyment to garden; and an avid fisher. He was also a former member of the Knights of Columbus Council 7557.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Rita L. Landry of Lafayette; two sons, Derrell Landry and his wife Kathy of Ocala, FL and Randal Landry of Youngsville, Three daughters, Sandra LeBouef and her husband Ronnie of Youngsville, Becky Landry of Lafayette, and Mona Trahan and her husband Joey of Maurice; two sisters, Lucille Sonnier and her husband Shelton of Carencro and Cecile Daigle of Lafayette; three half-sisters, Linda Cormier, Marie Fontenot, and Charlene Savioe; a half-brother, Carl Landry; nineteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Drozin and Amelia Guilbeaux Landry; a daughter, Yvonne Hernandez; three brothers, Phil Landry, Alton Landry, and Clarence Landry; a grandchild, Brock Hernandez; and three great grandchildren, Gabriel Breaux, Ella Breaux, and Elijah Paul LeBouef.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jared LeBouef, Jason LeBouef, Blake LeBouef, Shawn Dugas, Justin Trahan, Jordan Landry, Dominick Landry, Jacob Landry, and Matthew Landry.
