New Iberia- A memorial service will take place for Ms. Cheryl Lynn “C” Laurents Tyl, age 56, on Saturday October 1, 2016 at 1:00pm at David Funeral Home with Deacon Theo Landry to serve as the Celebrant.
Visitation will begin on Saturday October 1, 2016 from 11:00am until the time of the service.
A native of Jennings and resident of New Iberia, Ms. Cheryl passed away on Wednesday September 28, 2016 at a Lafayette hospital. “C” as she was affectionately known, was a dog lover. Throughout her years she took in countless rescue dogs never turning away a single helpless animal. She also donated to the local shelters, often buying two bags of dog food at a time; one for her dogs at home and one to be dropped off at the shelter. She also enjoyed caring for her fish.
Ms. Cheryl was proud to be a mother. The moments that brought her the most joy was the time she got to spend with Emily, her daughter. Along with all of the knowledge and wisdom a mother passes on to their child, she always encouraged Emily to be passionate and to “learn to fly”; a simple motto she would use to teach her daughter that she could do anything or go anywhere. Ms. Cheryl was a loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, and she will be sadly missed.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Emily Tyl-Schoonfield and husband Jeremy of Mobile, AL; father and mother, George Laurents and Billie Broussard Laurents of New Iberia; siblings, Tina Charpentier and husband Henry of Lydia, Curt Laurents and wife Devon of New Iberia, Roxie Guilbeau and husband Troy of St. Martinville; numerous nieces and nephews; best friend, Jayne Dishman and husband Marty of New Iberia; and her grand fur baby, a yellow Labrador named Molly.
The family would like to thank the staff of The Heart Hospital of Lafayette, and the staff of Lafayette General; particularly Dr. Hargrave and Dr. Bhanushali for their care and compassion.
Family and friends wishing to express condolences can sign the online guestbook.
