Linda Mae Mergist

Abbeville- A Mass of Christian Burial for Ms. Linda Mae Mergist, 70, will be held at 3:00PM on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at St. Theresa Catholic Church with Fr. Michael Richard officiating. Interment will follow at St. Paul Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Abbeville on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 from 9:00AM until services with a recitation of the rosary at 11:00AM.

A native of Erath and a resident of Abbeville, Ms. Mergist passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Abbeville General Hospital. Ms. Mergist was a kind and gentle soul throughout her lifetime that had a heart of gold. When she was capable of doing so, her greatest enjoyment in life was helping anyone that needed assistance. In her younger years, she would often volunteer her time at the Christian Service Center in the soup kitchen.

Left to cherish her memory, Ms Mergist is survived by her brother, Arthur Ray Mergist of Guam; a sister, “Lee” Joyce Mergist of Abbeville; numerous nieces and nephews; and Margaret, Mary Grace, Miia and Madeleine Hebert who she helped raise and always referred to them as “my girls”.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Amelia Cormier Mergist; two brothers, Doris Mergist  and Linwood Mergist ; and an infant daughter, Amelia Rene Mergist.

Serving as pallbearers will be Neal Lange, Jonathan Faulk, Ryan Frederick, Louis Hebert, Joseph Frederick, and Jerome Mergist.
