Sylvia Parr Provost

Jeanerette – Funeral services will be conducted for Sylvia Parr Provost, 80, on Friday, October 28, 2016, at 11:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Fr. Jody Simoneaux officiating. Burial will follow in St. John Mausoleum.

Visitation will be on Friday, October 28, 2016, from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM and a rosary will be prayed in the funeral home at 10:00 AM.

A native of Raceland and a resident of Jeanerette, Mrs. Provost passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2016, at 9:35 PM in a New Iberia hospital.

She was a Secretary at the Jeanerette Chamber of Commerce and a Tour Guide at the Jeanerette Bi-Centennial Museum. She was involved with many community projects in Jeanerette. She was a parishioner at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and a Catechism Teacher.

She is survived by her sons, James G. “Jim” Provost and his wife Monica and Timothy J. “Tim” Provost and his wife Alicia all of Jeanerette; her grandchildren, Nicholas J. Provost and his wife Brittani, Eric Provost and his wife Ali, Sarah Provost, Olivia Switzer and her husband Andrew, Emily Provost, David Provost and Amelia Provost and her great grandchildren, Brianna Provost, Carson Patin, Cannon Provost, Cove Provost and Madilyn Switzer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Provost; her parents, Abel Parr and Dorothy Decou Parr; her daughter, Cindy Provost; her sister, Gertrude “Trudy” Brou and her brother, Leslie Parr.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
